Monarchs blank South Philly

Yesterday, the young Delco Monarchs stepped onto the football for the first this season.  They traveled to 25th and Jackson streets to pay the South Philly Hurricanes an annual visit.  The monarchs flexed there muscles early and scored on there second offensive play from scrimmage,  Quarterback AJ Madden Jr. hit split end E. Freeman in the seem for a 40 yard TD pass and catch.  After the early score, the monarchs offense appeared to be on auto pilot for the rest of the afternoon.  After the scrimmage, Coach Greg could only shake his head.  I'm not disappointed with the performance but I'm not happy either.  We simply did not take advantage of our opportunities.  I think it was an average performance coach Tone barked.  I know we are better than this.  Well, I hope we are better this.  We just made too many mistakes.  We had three turnovers on offense and we dropped a interception on defense.  Good teams will make you pay for that.  We got lucky to day.  Very lucky.

In other game action against the 'Caines , the Monarchs 145's fell 18- 6 while the 105's where shut out 12 - 0.  The 145's appeared to struggle early with the hurricanes size and speed.  However, after a few adjustments QB B. Parker Jr. hooked up E. Jefferson for a 40 yard bomb and halfback T. Harmon sprinted for 50 TD run.  As far the 105's, they struggle both on offense and defense.  Backup QB T. Norton and new comers S. Ryals,  C. Bullard, H. Freeman, C. Pelzer and H. Taylor all play well.

The Monarchs open up the season next week.  The 105's and 145's host the Chester Township Cougars, while the 120's open up the Nu Dae Spartans.

SEE YOU AT THE MOOSE!!!!  THE GAMES WILL START AT 12 NOON.

Inside Access - Monarchs 2014

Well folks, its that time of year.  The time of year when coaches start getting together and start planning for the upcoming season.  For the Monarchs, it will be a season of change.  Yes change.  First and foremost, the Delco Monarchs will be moving from Delaware Valley Pop Warner to Liberty Pop Warner at the request of the National Office.  While we are disappointed by the politics of the National Office, we are also excited at the new opportunity and challenges that lie ahead of us Coach Greg said.  And we are just focused on the next chapter, Coach Tone added.

With that being said, we also are aware that there are some former Monarchs coaches attempting to start a new program in Yeadon.  This will temporarily hurt our numbers in mini camp but we know who they recruited and tried to lure over there.  We are not worried nor are we concerned.  We will let the kids make there choice themselves Coach Greg barked.  And as far as the hate or the doubt comments posted on Facebook, Coach Tone merely shrugged his shoulders and smiled.  Why???  Cuz everybody looks like an athlete in shirts and spikes.  Talk to me Aug 1st when the equipment comes out!

Lastly, what about Colwyn???  Well, we got the ok from the Monarch's President/CEO and we subsequently approached them in the winter about playing one game at the senior weight class because the other ages and weights don't match up.  Colwyn's president never got back too us. Go figure....
