This type of season comes along once in a while. Even a program used to winning and going to the playoffs experience it. Its called rebuilding and it happens everywhere.
Just four years ago, the Colwyn Comets were the talk of the town. The Dynasty Dragons were a doormat. West Oak Lane and West Philly fought for Delco Pop Warner league supremacy. Now its the new kids on the block the No Limit Hurricanes and Dragons duking it out for league honors. The Monarchs have not been relevant. Of course, all of this does not sit well with Monarchs skipper Coach Greg James. Its too much talent in the Boro for us not to be competitive bottom line Coach Greg stated. But we are constantly splitting talent with the Comets and that makes it difficult to compete year in and year out. But Darby is Darby and Colwyn is Colwyn. And Yeadon is more than welcomed in the Monarchs Nation. Thats our area and we let the kids and parents make the decision.
As far as last season, I personally saw the improvement Coach Jamil said. But we still have to get better. We know we have to answer to some outsiders, nonbelievers and even critics. But that doesn't bother us. We hear the negative talk in and out the neighborhood but we refuse to feed into the nonsense. We evaluate ourselves and make moves based on our core values and not what other people think. Lastly the Monarchs aren't going anywhere. We just ask that people in the Boro or in the district come out and support us.
